COVER STORY: As president of one of Australia's three operating uranium mines, the Beverley mine in South Australia, David Williams knows the progress the industry has made, but is under no illusion about the tasks still in front of it. Roving reporter Andrew Pascoe visited Surda copper mine in India 2009 FLOATS: The global financial crisis brought a shuddering halt to the mining boom on the ASX with just 47 resources companies listing in 2008 compared to 135 in 2007. While the number of 2009 new resources listings, 24, was less than half of the 2008 tally, it is worth looking at exactly when companies took the plunge.
